MIA for the month of August

Hello fellow bloggers,
I've been' missing in action' from my blog for the past month - I was on a tour of Vietnam and Cambodia.  We went on our very first organised tour with a group called 'Australian Farmers Travel' and to say we had very busy days would probably be an understatement.  We saw an amazing amount of places in these countries and learnt such a lot from very experienced and knowledgeable tour guides from different areas and provinces.

The group consisted of 32 remarkable people from different backgrounds connected with farming, education, banking and finance.  Even though it was such a large group everyone got on well and not one person was ever late for anything.

Now back home and into the normal way of life, shopping has been done, washing hung out and soon time to think about some scrapping - yay!!!

If you're still here after such a long post I want to share with you a layout I had in the latest Australian Scrapbook Ideas edition 22.  Ironically this page was about farming.

I was also lucky enough to have a layout on the Scrapbooking Memories blog colour challenge.

I look forward to getting back into the blog world and using some of my photos from the holiday.

Meg's Garden (Let's Take a Ride)

Oops I'm a bit late posting this but you'll find it on Meg's Garden blog.  Thanks to the ladies for the comments over there.
Let’s take a Ride
I loved this paper so much I found it hard to cover any of it so I began this layout by using cardstock with stamping, and then embossing in gold a script stamp.  To add a bit more dimension I then stamped with a background crackle stamp in brown to blend with the brown cogs on the top right.  The centres of some cogs were stamped in the centre with gold ink.
I fussy cut the car and compass on the bottom half of the page so I could slip my vintage photo behind these elements.

Other Products Used:
Spellbinders Sprightly Sprockets Die
Kaisercraft Stamp

Cards
I just had to make a couple of cards with the rest of the paper in this range.  I had the extra piece that’s supplied with Meg’s Garden papers and some of the top half of the 12X12 sheet used on the layout.

I also used some cogs and the leafy die on the ‘Best Wishes’ card and I chose some of the beautiful flowers for the second one.

Meg's Garden - Mini Album

Why not pop over to Megs Garden and have a look at the process
for my latest mini-album, hope you like it.

Mini Album
I first cut four pieces of corrugated cardboard into 5.5inch X 4.5 inch (or approx. 14cm X 11.5cm)
I then painted the edges and slightly onto the card itself with black acrylic paint for a better finish than plain brown card.
I chose a Stampi’ Up! paper to use on the opposite sides in the album to the gorgeous A Day in the Meadows vintage scene.
If you don’t have the smaller photos that were used in years gone by just print your own into a wallet size or the size you would like.
Choose your elements and then decorate as you wish.  I’ve left most of the beautiful scenes to showcase the lovely paper but you could change to suit your own style.
I used the piece of leftover paper for a pocket on the back of my mini album and I included some metal corners to the front and back of the album.
Cut as many ribbons as you like and tie them around the ring binder for presentation as this mini would make a gorgeous gift.
