Scrap the Boys - All I Want For Christmas

The challenge for December at Scrap the Boys is a quote - All I Want For Christmas - I went a little bit out of the box because I wanted to use this photo and non traditional coloured background.
and now for a close-up
There's a lot of mixed media here including gesso, stamping and inking or spraying with the fabulous Heidi Swapp Color Shine and Dylusions sprays.  I've also used an Imaginarium Chicken Wire Chipboard - cut into pieces.  There's also some dry wall tape, washi tape, Kaisercraft and Prima Stamps and a Crafter's Warehouse Stencil.

Meg's Garden Christmas Album Post

This is my last DT post for Meg's Garden and if you haven't been to visit her blog you'll be missing out on some gorgeous vintage papers to play with.
This is quite a long post so thanks for looking.
Memory File Folder Album (my own version with measurements in inches)
You’ll need four (4) A4 Manilla Folders
Co-ordinating cardstock OR extra manilla folder

Cut each to folder to 8 ½ ” on open side and 6 ¼ ” on the fold side then score at 1” from fold side so it opens more easily and fits into the hinge.
For the hinge cut a piece of cardstock or manilla folder to 8” X 6 ¼ ”
Score at 1” all the way along the 8” length.
Fold in a concertina fashion.  Fit the first file folder into the first valley of the concertina fold.  Repeat with the other three folders.  See tape position in the photo.
Tape the bottom and sides of the folder that will glue to the second folder and the open top will form a pocket for tag or smaller page.
Cover each side with your choice of patterned paper before creating and affixing the spine. To make the spine cut a piece of co-ordinating cardstock to 6 ¼ ” X 3”.  Score on long side at 1” then flip and score opposite side at 1”, this will give you a  ¼ ”spine.
Decorate the memory file as desired.
For the tags or smaller pages that fit into the pockets cut cardstock to 6” X 4 ½” then cover both sides with patterned paper and decorate as desired.  I used a spellbinders die cut in half for the tabs and adhered them to the top of the smaller page but in hind sight I would have adhered before adding the patterned paper ie.  Adhere over the top of the tab.

UmWowStudio - A day in the sun

I created this page while Skype scrapping with three wonderful scrappy friends, we had such a lot of fun creating blindly from one another because we could only hear each other, couldn't see what we were producing.
We did however have a great sketch chosen for us to follow and it came from UmWowStudio.

Here's the sketch.
I've used paper I won from a lady in Greece along with Heidi Swapp Color shine, Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays, Sequins, Stampin' Up! paper, washi tape, american Craft Thickers Alpha and  Basic Grey Alpha.

Make Pretty Stuff Downunder

I made these cards to go into our little folder from the technique class that Heidi Swapp taught - these gorgeous little ones are my six grandchildren either in hospital or soon after.

Scrapbooking Top 50 - Week 8

The last challenge over at Scrapbooking Top 50 was to use the Inspirational Pictures and I landed on White Way where you have to use whitewash, washi tape and fabric.  I really wanted a snowy picture to cover the whitewash element and I was lucky enough to be given permission to use a photo from a scrappy friend - do you recognise the two precious little ones?  I've used washi tape behind the photo and I made the larger flowers from some cheesecloth fabric.
To make the flowers I used the concertina method and tied them in the centre with a sheer ribbon before opening them out and stitching the two edges together.
A huge thank you to Kelly Foster for the use of the photo.

Pixels and Paper Challenge

I discovered that I could combine with another challenge at Pixels and Paper and as I've just completed my Memory File on our chickens 'Itchy & Scratchy' decided to enter it in the November photo inspiration challenge.  I was inspired by the photo as it suited my file that includes photos of my grandson's involvement with the chickens.
I wont post all photos on this post but you can see them HERE

Heidi Swapp Wrap Up Challenge

The challenge was to use up the leftovers from our amazing event with Heidi Swapp and Kim Jeffress.
I used the 'Believe' paper range and left over ephemera from the other projects. My project was time consuming because I didn't have a memory file so I made my own templates from the ones we used of Heidi's.
I also needed to make the paper fit so there was a lot of gluing of the patterned papers onto manilla folders that I used as a base.
Can you believe I have 34 photos in this memory file, it's amazing how many will fit with all the added photo stacks that Heidi and Kim taught us to make.

I think I'm hooked on these memory files.

I haven't added all the interactive photo stacks but you get the idea.
Thanks for staying for this long winded post both with photos and text.

Sketchbook 365 - Itchy & Scratchy

The challenge at sketchbook365 is a fabulous sketch which I used on an A4 size layout, it's of our curious chickens, I just love them because they have such quirky personalities.  They found their way down the side of the house and discovered if they tap on the window someone will come to say hello to them - very cute!!!
For the background I've used The Crafter's Warehouse chicken wire stencil with a distressed brick stamp from Ranger Dylusions stamps.
The paper is from Kaisercraft and the alpha is American Crafts.
Now for the fabulous sketch:

Scrapbooking Top 50 Monopoly - Beside the Yarra River

It's Week 3 - Colours Challenge and I drew the Chance card so could choose the  a colour set and use a polaroid frame or film strip - I used both on this layout.
I've used an older paper range I had in my stash along with some older Kaisercraft Collectable Die Cuts and rhinestones.  The butterflies are a spellbinders die and the sequin one (top left) was in the Scrapbooking Top 50 kit.
I had the net and other ribbons in my stash and I dragged out my Xyron machine to cut the alpha letters.

A Couple of Cards

I made these two cards for my grandsons' birthday's this year, just thought I 'd share as they were quite simple to make and the look is effective.  The first one is a gorgeous stencil that I used with texture paste and the second is also a stencil used with gel medium and then a mixed media centre, something I was playing with and thought 'why waste it' so I made a card.

Week 2: Styles - Ink, Newsprint, Doily

This is my submission for Week 2 - Styles over at Scrapbooking Top 50. I landed on 'chance' and chose 'Media Mall' with a polaroid frame. I've used ink on a stencil on the background (very subtle) and all around the distressed edges as well as a sentiment on the lower part of the polaroid frame. The newsprint is on a background doily and the heart from the kit. The doily is on the background as a mat with an additional two cut from a die.

Products are: Graphic 45 - A Ladies Diary patterned paper collection with items from the Scrapbooking Top 50 Monopoly kit and those gorgeous little flowers
are from The Trinket Track
The colours are not showing up well on my laptop so I hope you can see better than me.

Sassy Scrapper (love)

This month at Sassy Scrapper the challenge is to scrap lift one of their Design Team's layouts.  I went to Shell Carman's blog and scraplifted her layout called Beautiful Girl.
Here's my interpretation.
and a collage of some close-ups.
The paper range is from Kaisercraft called Forget me Not and the flourish, stamp and bird cage are also from Kaisercraft.  The flowers and zipper fastener are from Prima and the cream leaves are Hooked on Craft while the little wood veneer bird is from Studio Calico.  I've used On the background I've used a Crafter's Workshop Stencil with texture paste.
Here's the layout I scraplifted.

A2Z Scraplets (Roses)

If you haven't seen the products at A2Z Scraplets you can see them HERE, you can also see the October Sketch Challenge here

I've used a DCWV Paper pack, Green Tara flowers, and old alpha I had in my stash and to that I applied a coat of Liquid Pearls, the butterflies are from A2Z Scraplets and they've been gessoed, stamped, inked and been finished with a coat of Dimensional Magic for the shine.
I've also used some collectables from Kaisercraft, a Making Memories Journal block, a Stampin' Up! border punch and a couple of veneer butterflies, oh and the stamp on the butterflies is a new one I got yesterday, it's from a Tim Holtz collection by Ranger.

Week 1:Trends (Glitter, Paints & Stars)

This is the first week of challenges over at Scrapbooking Top 50 and the number I picked came up with Glitter, Paints & Stars and here's my interpretation.

My glitter is Kindy Glitz and its applied around the edges of all the stars that were cut using the Spellbinders die and the paint has been brushed lightly behind the stars.
I've also used a couple of Kaisercraft stamps, some stitched borders and some loose threads.
The gorgeous flair is from D-Lish Scraps.

D-Lish Scraps (Look at Me)

D-Lish Scraps have a fabulous fluoro inspiration board for the challenge this month
and I was inspired by the fabulous colours.
The layout is of my youngest grandson taken in my back garden.

I just love the little puffy alphas I had in my stash, I've had them for ages and I think they were meant for this fun layout.  The paint I used was from a Riot store and it's only a children's set of tiny tubs of paint, perfect for a project like this one.
I also used the 'Just Add Paper' kit from D-Lish Scraps, it had so many beautiful bits and pieces including the sequins, fluoro dots, speech bubbles and that fabulous washi tape.
The stencil is from a2z scraplets and I doodles around it with a sharpie pen and the background stamp is from Kaisercraft.

You also have the option of using the fabulous sketch.

Background Paper in Previous Post

A quick post to let you know the brand of my background paper in the previous post CSI #90.

It was Prima Marketing Sunrise - Sunset collection - Celsius  #960018 by Finnabair, I'm sorry I don't remember how old it is.

I found this on Finnabair's blog, she's used the paper mentioned above.

D-Lish Scraps (It's Home)

This month over at D-Lish Scraps they had a fabulous mood board, pictured below my interpretation of the colours and the sketch.

I decided to do an A4 size and start an album of things in the garden and around the home.
And now the Mood Board and Sketch.
I had such fun using my new gelatos, the colours are amazing.  I used the background of this resist paper for the squares but they appear as diagonals here.
I've also used some of my favourite D-Lish trinkets and a stamp set that came free with a magazine some time ago.
I'm having trouble making my pages flat after using water and also some glues on the layout.
